The case report is unconventional and cuts across many disciplines. It was sent to three reviewers; first a faculty in community dentistry, second a psychiatrist and third a clinical psychologist. The first two reviewers rejected the paper outright, one of them referring to the Oxford Textbook of Psychiatry which mentions that hypnosis is of historical interest and has no therapeutic role according to present medical consensus. The third reviewer accepted the paper after some revisions.

Comments from the readers on the case report are invited.
